Omron Indonesia Cares for Aceh and North Sumatera Tsunami Casualties

It’s a deep distressed for all Omron Manufacturing of Indonesia’s (OMI) employee when the news spread out – as the earthquake and tsunami hit Aceh and North Sumatera , and later on the same day we got the news from all media that it’s also hit some of our fellow country in Asia, on Sunday December 26, 2004.

This disaster really made us weep and mourn for our people in Aceh and North Sumatera – but it doesn’t mean anything for them if we just weep and mourn. Thus, as the real action – Omron Indonesia Employee start to collect the donation in form of money, food and cloth to be sent for the casualties.

As the immediate aid, the first donation was collected and sent out on December 31, 2004 – in form of 55 boxes of food and 17 boxes of cloth. Then, we continue to collect the donation from employee and as the result we got 57 million rupiahs in total – including the company’s donation – plus additional 21 boxes of food and 4 boxes of cloth and medicine.

On January 07, 2005, our President Director – Kenji Nakamura-san visited the Media Group office - one of the TV Media as the donation channel – to hand over the donation of OMI’s employee. It might be just like a drop of water in the sea comparing to the needs of casualties but we do believe that it could mean a lot to relief the suffer of our brother and sister in Aceh and North Sumatera.
