What is sequence connector?
-
The XC5 series do not have sequence control. The XC7 type, on the other hand, is designed with sequence function. Sequence connector has different contact length (1mm difference) which arbitrarily allows time lag in contact timing. By implementing sequence in both female and male connectors, it allows 3-step mating sequence in order of ground, power and signal contact and enables insertion/extraction of PCB (connector) while the power is ON (known as hot swapping). For details, please refer to the Electronic & Mechanical Components general catalog.

What is fine-fit connector?
-
Fine-fit connector (generally known as press-fit connector) presses the pin into a plated-through hole on a PCB to connect to the conductive path (i.e. press-fit connection).
Excessive insertion force is required to plug the elastic contact (terminal) into the PCB. Insertion force normally requires Number of Pole x 200N or less therefore will need dedicated insertion machine or press-fit machine to have enough force.
Merit
1) Solder-less assembly which helps prevent damage to PCB
2) Press-fit technology eliminates the need for solder which makes sequencing easier
3) Backplane system allows connections in multiple layers by using both sides of the PCBDemerit
1) Require dedicated insertion machine and tools
2) Has limited through-hole tolerance range (on PCB).Inquiries about products are here.

What is the difference between XC2 type and XC5 type?
-
They are generally the same except:
- Different gold plating thickness. XC2 type is 0.76μm and XC5 standard type is 0.4μm.
- Different contact methods. XC2 type uses method of double-sided contact and XC5 standard type uses method of one-sided contact.
- The housing is slightly different between XC2 type and XC5 standard type due to the design, but in terms of fitting compatibility, they are the same.Inquiries about products are here.

About DIN standard connector and DIN style connector.
-
Omron connectors include DIN standard type and DIN style type connectors. The differences are:
- Gold plating
DIN standard type: Double-sided gold plating thickness of 0.4μm
DIN style type: One-sided gold plating thickness of 0.15μmThe difference of the gold plating allows the DIN standard type to fit with non-Omron products and the number of insertion/removal action up to 200 times.
DIN style fitting depends on the contact structure of the non-Omron product and the number of insertion/removal action is up to 50 times.
- Structure
DIN standard type: Mounted on the edge of PCB
DIN style type: Mounted on PCB
DIN style type is suited for automatic mounting.- Coding key
DIN standard type: Available
DIN style type: Not AvailableInquiries about products are here.
